Pen to Print was launched by Serendi in 2018, and was one of the first applications dedicated specifically to converting handwriting into digital text — at a time when OCR software was designed primarily for printed documents. It used machine learning to recognize handwritten characters and words, achieving strong results for the technology available at the time.

Advancements in AI made it possible to move far beyond basic transcription, enabling greater accuracy and capabilities that once seemed out of reach: preserving document layout and structure, identifying and extracting data fields, recognizing mathematical expressions, digitizing tables and forms, and exporting the results into editable, structured formats.

What began as a focused handwriting-to-text application has grown into a comprehensive handwriting OCR and document-processing platform — one that still solves the very basic task we started with: converting handwriting to text.
